About Bayu Labs

Steady guidance for the AI questions every small business faces

We are a small Singapore team with a straightforward aim: to help business owners understand what AI tools can and cannot do for them, without pressure or unnecessary complexity.

Our Story

Started with a single honest question

Bayu Labs came together in 2022 when the three of us — who had each spent time inside larger technology firms — kept hearing the same thing from the small business owners we knew: "I don't have time to figure all this out, and I'm not sure it's worth it anyway."

That felt like a gap worth filling. Not with a platform, not with a subscription service that adds another thing to manage, but with patient, direct conversation. We left our previous roles and set up at Gateway East to do exactly that.

The name Bayu comes from the Malay word for a gentle, steady breeze — the kind that keeps a room comfortable without making a fuss. That is how we try to work. We come in, listen carefully, and help things move along without turning your business into a technology project.

Since opening, we have worked with sole proprietors, family-run shops, and young service firms across Singapore. Our clients range from a two-person bookkeeping practice in Toa Payoh to a café group in Tiong Bahru. What they have in common is wanting clear answers from people who will not oversell.

Our Mission

To give small business owners in Singapore a clear, honest picture of where AI tools fit — or do not fit — into their working day, and to set up only what genuinely helps.

What We Value

  • Listening before advising
  • Plain language in every exchange
  • Saying no when a tool would not help
  • Respecting that your time has real limits
  • Keeping humans in charge of every decision

Handles the integrations, configuration, and ongoing maintenance side of our work. Known for explaining technical steps in plain terms and for being methodical about testing before handing anything over to a client.

How We Work

Our working standards

A few principles we hold to in every client engagement, regardless of scope or budget.

Data handled with care

We access only what is needed to do the work. Client data is not stored beyond the engagement unless explicitly agreed. We follow the Singapore Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) in all our processes.

Thorough testing before handover

Every tool we configure is tested against real-world inputs before we hand it over. We do not consider a setup complete until it has performed reliably across a reasonable range of scenarios.

Proper knowledge transfer

When we set something up for your team, we make sure your staff understand how to use it and what to do if it behaves unexpectedly. You should not need to call us for ordinary daily use.

Clear written scope

Before any paid work begins, you receive a written scope of what is included. No surprise additions to the bill, and no work outside scope without a separate conversation first.

Regular review points

Ongoing engagements include scheduled reviews where we assess whether the tools are still serving their purpose. If something is no longer useful, we say so rather than continue charging for it.

Open to questions

There are no silly questions in a Bayu Labs engagement. We welcome pushback, requests to slow down, and requests to explain things again differently. That is part of what you are paying for.

Our Approach

AI support built around small business realities

Small businesses in Singapore face a particular kind of tension with AI tools. The tools exist, the coverage is constant, and there is real pressure to do something. But the businesses most likely to benefit are also the ones with the least time to evaluate options carefully.

Bayu Labs exists precisely for that situation. Our Starting Conversation service gives owners a structured, unhurried space to think through whether AI fits their business — with a consultant who will not steer them toward a sale. The outcome is a written note they can refer back to, not a pitch deck.

For businesses that do have a genuine fit, our Customer Reply Companion is a practical first step. It handles one of the most time-consuming and repetitive tasks for customer-facing teams — drafting first replies — while keeping staff firmly in the loop. The tone is calibrated to match the business, so replies feel human and consistent rather than generic.

For firms that want their AI tools maintained over time without adding internal overhead, the Quiet Operations Plan provides a reliable ongoing presence: routine upkeep, sensible adjustments as the business evolves, and a monthly plain-language summary that covers what was done and what, if anything, needs attention.

Across all three services, the operating principle is the same: support that fits around the business, not support that asks the business to reshape itself around a tool.

Come and ask us anything

First conversations are low-key and carry no obligation. We are happy to hear what you are working on and be honest about whether we can help.
